Realized after chatting with @clarko@mastodon.social that I associate the same common room in Crown College at UC Santa Cruz with learning about both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and imaginary numbers.

I remember feeling bad for Navy Admiral Bradley being “thrown under the bus” by sinister Pete Hegseth. But now that he’s taking responsibility and defending what he did, it’s obvious they’re all monsters. You know you’re bad when fellow Republicans bat an eye, let alone defy Trump to accuse you.

In my humble opinion if you honor a Fascist, you are a fascist.

If there is one thing I could change about the United States government it would be to diminish the power of the President. I’ve always sensed this was a problem, but it never became so crystal clear until now.

It’s crazy, but I routinely walk into a freezing lake and then swim for a temperature-informed number of minutes (18 today at 43F). I’m not encouraging you to jump into a lake, but if there’s something you have long considered impossible … maybe it isn’t?

I have experienced “Raynaud’s Syndrome” (where your fingers turn white) to varying degrees over the years, but since I started cold water plunging/swimming, I have never experienced it after a swim, and can’t remember having it at all during “cold water season.”

People fault AI for stubbornly insisting it’s right even when it’s not, but if you’ve ever met an actually intelligent person, or an unintelligent person for that matter, they behave exactly the same way.

It’s remarkable to see the world erupt with disdain over Trump’s “quiet piggy” and “things happen” quips, both absolutely career-ending statements by most politicians. I have become so cynical that I know these won’t sink him, but they don’t help him! I’m surprised by how much he self-owns.

Because of my advanced use of WebKit in my apps, I sometimes need to build and test against a local version of it. I never need a notification that the build is done, because I can tell when my MacBook Pro’s fans turn off.

As I listen to more Todd Snider I appreciate he is the modern folk inheritor of Phil Ochs’s legacy. Under-appreciated and funny as hell, if you take the time to listen.

I guess MSNBC rebranded as MS NOW. It took me a while to figure it out because I saw an ad celebrating the change, but I couldn’t tell who they used to be. The site feels like a boilerplate right-wing news theme.
