I’m in Hyannis, MA on the eve of my kid’s 3rd speed cubing competition. Also my first time traveling solo with him. Mostly fun, and a tiny bit nervewracking.

If anybody doesn’t know what speed cubing is, it’s basically Rubik’s Cube solving with newer, fancier cubes that are designed for quick, accurate turns. Netflix has a short (45m) documentary if you’re curious. Trailer: www.youtube.com/watch

My son averages around 15s for a 3x3 (standard cube) solve, which puts him in the middle of the pack at most of these competitions. The winners are always well under 10s.
