I spent 14 years never swearing around my kids, and I think that was good. I also think it’s good that now, when one of my kid’s friends swears like a sailor, we can just laugh about it and it’s not a big deal. I am trying to show him both ways.
Without being too judgmental, I do actually think some parents underestimate the consequences of a care-free attitude towards swearing. I think some kids grow up not realizing that they will be judged for the way they’ve been taught to speak, and that sucks for the kid!
