Running Goals

The best running days are when you set out with a meager goal, like half your usual ambition, and then 500ft in you realize you could run forever. “I could run all the way around Manhattan … but maybe I shouldn’t.”

The contrast between not wanting to run at all, and wanting to keep running forever, is a metaphor for every ambition I have in life, and the trouble I always have with getting started.
